The old boiler that was removed was grossly oversizes for the 15 family co-op building, with close to 1 milllion BTU/Hr input resulting in a very high gas bill, and was close to 50 years old.
After performing a detailed analysis of the heating requirements of the building, we deteremined the actual required heat load was approximately half of what was being supplied. The new boiler that was installed was 546,000 BTU/Hr.
Aspects of installation include:
- 4" sollid concrete boiler base.
- Redundant back-up low-water cut-off and pressure controls.
- Professionally cleaned and re-built chimney base.
- Fuel savings of ~30% annually due to smaller boiler
- Steadier, more even heating of building due to properly sized boiler by eliminating high steam velocity and short-cycling of boiler.
